Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2002 – Domaine Groffier

Very delicate tannins, freshness, spicy black fruit aromas combined with toasty, round, sweet, intense and wonderfully deep flavors.  Long finish,  A classy Chambolle. Truly remarkable wine perfect with the Christmas turkey (“chapon”, actually). Unfortunately I had only one bottle !
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchots Dessus 2007 – Domaine Morey-Coffinet

From a tiny vineyard planted in 1980. Blanchots-Dessus abuts Montrachet on its southern end and Morey-Coffinet produces only few hundreds bottles a year. Very elegant wine, quite powerful for the vintage. Remarkable intensity, nose of rosemary, peach and pear. A solid concentration and finishing punch. Well balanced. Will keep aging nicely but can definitely be approached now. In a word, lovely.
Côte Rotie 1997 – Domaine Jean Paul et Corinne Jamet

Jean Paul Jamet likes very much this vintage and considers it as ready to taste and drink. It is indeed a perfect expression of old school, Cote Rotie winemaking. When opening the wine, it shows little sign of age on the rim and demonstrates immediately a first nose of espresso, earth, smoked game, bacon, tapenade, dark chocolate. On the scone nose, fruits are back, plums, cherries, raspberries and blueberries. The palate reveals ripe and slightly roasted sweet black and red fruits. Tannins are very soft but pleasant and a robust acid spine testify about the potential of this wine. A wonderful companion of venaison.
